“He told me that when I wasn’t looking he took a small amount of chemical and lodged it underneath his finger nails. Then, rubbing his hands together, he mixed the chemical with sweat causing a burning reaction.”
That is why I am always wary of “arts” that are too mystical

A friend of mine took a class with the late Prof. Fred Wakeman. Wakeman, in addition to being a tremendous scholar of the Republican era, had also practiced quite a bit of xingyi until his knees gave out. Wakeman told my friend that the fingernail trick was also the origin of the death touch. I.e. there’s poison under the finger nail, the practitioner scratches the opponent, and then boom. Dead in a few days.
