Chen taiji in 10 years time?

22 June 2007 485 views One Comment

Been a while since I last wrote, but I am still practising. After observing discussions or arguments at time on forums, youtube etc, I feel I have a better prespective of Chen taiji in the international scene. It leads me to think  “What would Chen taiji be like in 10 years time internationally ? ”

So I grazed into my crystall balls and offers the following predications

1) There would be more people claiming their Chen style taiji  is more authenic than others.

2) There would be more people claiming their Chen style taiji is more partical (whatever that means) than others.

3) There will be more flavours of Chen style taiji than the icecreams in an ice cream store.

4) in the US, Chen style taiji will be combined with yoga, pilates and termed Super Power Taiji, SPT for short.

5)The Four Warriors of Chen Village would have semi retired. Replacing them are the 8 Generals of Chen Village.

6) There would be more Grandmasters of Chen style taiji in the US than students.

7) Old Frame and New Frame routines wll be combined into the Modern Frame.

8) “Flowery” movements will be added into the routines to score more points during competiton.

So while waiting for things to happen, I will keep on practising. :)

Yeah, it’s been a while, but your predictions are so true to all styles of Taijiquan, even IMA.
But where will we stand in 10 years? Secluded in the mountains trying to preserve somthing or amongst the grandmasters in the public?
While waiting, we keep on practising.
