Spring And Autumn Falchion 春秋大刀

Commonly known as the GuanDao, the weapon of General Yu of the Three Kingdoms fame,the Spring And Autumn Falchion is classified as a long weapon. Traditionally very heavy,there are now lighter versions that weight less than 2 kg.

The Chen Taiji routine is made up of thirty phrases that run like a poem. The main applications of this weapons They are chop, cut, pierce, parry, thrust, intercept, press, push, slice, block and swing in figure-8 form. Here is a clip by Ni ShiQing ( 倪世清), a disciple of Chen Zhenglei. Ni handles this weapon with ease and displays lots of power with this routine.

    Chén Zàosēn must be playing a very heavy Guandao as his movement is slower in comparison. How about a kid doing the form? I think he is one of Wang XiAn’s student.

    my guess is Chén Zàosēn is using a guandao whose blade is made of wushu steel because of the vibration when he exert force. Either that or he is real powerful.

    the boy is good ..should be better now as that clip is a few years old.
